Aside from those who experience severe pain, it's important to know that exercising during your period, at varying intensity, can have beneficial effects. This reduces blood flow and therefore limits the amount of your flow. The loss of fatty tissue caused by physical activity lowers estrogen levels. Less estrogen means a thinner uterine wall and, therefore, a lighter flow.
Numerous studies have also shown that exercising during menstruation can help alleviate pain such as menstrual contractions, as well as reduce stress and low energy levels by releasing the feel-good hormone.
